The Qualities of Quality: Excellence in Arts Education and How to Achieve It is a study aiming to synthesize what is currently understood about the critical elements of high quality arts teaching and learning and to identify effective strategies for creating those experiences for school-age youth in diverse settings.

We are conducting a multi-faceted study of how arts educators define and strive to create high-quality arts learning experiences for children and youth, both in and out of school. The study involves three distinct strands of research: (1) a review of relevant literature; (2) interviews with leaders and key informants in arts education, and (3) case studies of exemplary arts education programs.
