Preparing Our Youth for a Better World: OECD PISA Global Competence Framework Launch

Project Zero at the Harvard Graduate School of Education and the Directorate of Education and Skills at the OECD are pleased to co-host the public launch of the new OECD PISA Global Competence Framework, the foundation for the PISA test of 2018. Andreas Schleicher will introduce the OECD framework and leaders in global education will discuss its implications for educational policies and practices.  

 

In today’s societies accelerating economic, digital, demographic, and environmental transformations are shaping our lives around the planet and increasing our daily intercultural encounters. For young people, learning to participate in more interconnected, complex and diverse societies is no longer a luxury, but a pressing necessity. To meet this emerging demand, and recognising the unique roles that schools play in preparing our youth for this interconnected world, the PISA Programme at the OECD has developed a framework to explain, develop and assess global competence among adolescents around the world. The framework directly informs the PISA global competence test to be administered in 2018. 

 

Because the framework itself is designed as a tool for policy makers, leaders, teachers interested in nurturing global competence among young people world wide, we are especially pleased to launch it well in advance of the PISA results in 2019.  The event will gather leaders in global education. Viewing parties around the world will come together to participate in the webcast event and share their ideas.
