Jacob Watson

Jacob Watson joined Project Zero in 2018 as a research assistant for the Arts as Civic Commons and Idea into Action projects. He is interested in how theatre and creative practice can expand thinking and advance solutions to social and civic problems. He also works with the Applied Theatre initiative at Harvard's Bok Center for Teaching and Learning. 

 

Prior to coming to Harvard, Jacob spent four years managing federally-funded arts- and media-integration research projects at the Center for Community Arts Partnerships at Columbia College Chicago. He has facilitated professional development for teachers nationwide and taught with renowned arts organizations including Albany Park Theatre Project, Erasing the Distance, Redmoon, Urban Gateways, and the Lyric Opera of Chicago. Jacob is also a founding member of the FYI Performance Company at the Illinois Caucus for Adolescent Health. There, he developed the Creative Capacity Building training series, which supports the use of participatory theatre techniques in sexuality education. He has worked professionally as an actor, director, and scenic designer, and is currently developing a new musical that seeks to redefine disability. 

 

Jacob holds an Ed.M. in Arts in Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and a B.A. in Theatre from Northwestern University.
