Interdisciplinary and Global Studies

The Interdisciplinary and Global Studies Project examines the challenges and opportunities of interdisciplinary work carried out by researchers, college faculty, secondary school teachers, and students in a variety of research and educational contexts. In recent years, we have focused on quality interdisciplinary education as a means to nurture global competence or global consciousness -- i.e., an individual's capacity and disposition to understand and act on matters of global significance. Several collaborations have taken place under the auspices of this project, including with the Asia Society, International Baccalaureate, and the Portland (Maine) Public Schools.
