Studio Thinking Project: Teaching and Learning in the Visual Arts Project

Text:

Phase I of the Studio Thinking Project documented art teachers' pedagogical intentions and strategies, and also included a small pilot study investigating whether students actually learnged what their teachers taught. We identified eight categories of learnign that arts teachers intend their studnets to learn and three classrooms tructures that teachers use to teach them. Our findings are described in a handbook for teachers and researchers in the visual arts called Studio Thinking. The handbook has an accompanying DVD showing rich classroom examples of each category of Studio Thinking.
